Plan Your Trade Vehicle Fitout

Every trade vehicle fitout is different, so we quote each build around the vehicle, equipment and electrical load. A basic setup may include a dual battery, inverter and battery monitor, while a remote service vehicle may also need Starlink, solar power, UHF communications, work lighting and an air compressor.

Before work begins, we will confirm the recommended setup, installation requirements, expected timeframe and cost. If we identify anything else during the fitout, we will discuss it with you before proceeding. No mystery accessories appearing on the final bill.

  • Custom fitouts for individual vehicles and commercial fleets
  • Electrical load planning for chargers, fridges and other equipment
  • Clear quote supplied before installation begins
  • Components selected to suit your vehicle and expected use
  • Future upgrades considered during the initial design

Highly recommended!
We had starlink hard wired to the roof rack of our 79 series.
Great quote and no long wait.
Outstanding service by Dion who took time to explain everything clearly and went above and beyond by calling into my home after work to install a switch that wasn’t available at the install.
Great team, amazing service and clean & tidy workshop.
Thank you Dion, a pleasure to do business with you. Kerri
Absolutely stoked with the 12V setup Kody did for us at Voltaic Welshpool! The workmanship is next level, everything is incredibly neat, well thought out and finished to such a high standard.

Kody handled everything from organising the setup to problem solving any issues that came up, and nothing was ever too much trouble. He genuinely went above and beyond, even tidying up and reorganising existing cords and wiring that weren’t part of the job just to make the whole setup look clean and professional.

You can tell Kody takes a huge amount of pride in his work and his attention to detail is unreal. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough and we’ll 100% be going back for any future 12V work!
I recently had Voltaic install a dual battery system, additional Anderson plugs, and a UHF radio in my vehicle, and I couldn't be happier with the result.

From start to finish, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly thorough. What really stood out was their communication throughout the entire process. They took the time to confirm every detail before proceeding, ensuring the installation was completed exactly the way I wanted it. That level of care and attention to detail gave me complete confidence that my vehicle was in good hands.

The quality of the workmanship is outstanding. Everything has been installed neatly, professionally, and functions perfectly. It's clear that the team takes great pride in their work and genuinely cares about customer satisfaction.

A special shout-out to Jaimee and Harry. Your customer service, expertise, and commitment to getting everything right made the experience exceptional. You both went above and beyond, and it was a pleasure dealing with you.

If you're looking for a reliable and professional auto electrical company, I highly recommend Voltaic. I'll definitely be returning for any future auto electrical work.

Thanks again, Jaimee, Harry, and the entire Voltaic team for a fantastic job!
When every other auto electrician stepped back, Voltaic Auto Electrical Welshpool stepped up and got the job done perfectly on my 2012 Ford Ranger.

A special thanks to Dion and the ret of the team for thier professionalism, knowledge, and honest approach throughout the whole process. Great communication, quality workmanship, and excellent service from start to finish. Highly recommend these guys!
I had Max work on both a 1988 Jaguar and a 1983 Land Rover - 1980s British Car Electrics being what they are it wasn’t simple and Max stuck to it and did a great job

Our Process

A useful trade vehicle fitout starts with understanding what happens during your working day. We look at your vehicle, tools, equipment, power requirements and working locations before recommending a system. 01

01

Tell Us About Your Work

Let us know what you drive, what equipment you carry and how you use the vehicle. This includes the tools you need to charge, the accessories you want to run and whether you work around Perth or in remote areas. 02

02

List Your Electrical Equipment

We identify the chargers, fridge, pie warmer, Starlink equipment, lighting and other accessories that will use power. This helps us estimate the expected electrical load. 03

03

Plan the 12V Power System

We recommend a dual battery, inverter and battery monitoring setup suited to your equipment. The inverter must be sized for the appliances and chargers you plan to use, rather than chosen on wattage alone. 04

04

Choose Your Fitout Accessories

You can add drawers, canopy lighting, UHF communications, Starlink, spotlights, air compressors, towing accessories, cameras and solar power where required. 05

05

Confirm the Fitout Design

We plan where the main components, switches, outlets and accessories will be installed. The layout must remain practical, protected and easy to use during the working day. 06

06

Approve Your Quote

We provide a quote based on the agreed equipment and installation work. You will know what is included before we begin. 07

07

Installation and Testing

Our auto electricians install the system, protect the wiring and test the connected equipment. We check that the system charges and operates as intended before returning the vehicle. 08

08

Fitout Handover

We show you how to operate the system, read the battery monitor and manage the electrical load. You will also know which equipment can run together and when the auxiliary battery needs charging.

FAQs

What types of trade vehicles can you fit out?

We can fit out many utes, vans, 4WDs and commercial vehicles used by Perth tradespeople and mobile service teams. The available mounting locations and accessory options depend on the vehicle, canopy, toolbox and existing equipment. Contact us with your make, model and setup so we can confirm what is possible.

What is included in a trade vehicle fitout?

A trade vehicle fitout can include a dual battery system, inverter, battery monitor, fridge, pie warmer, drawers, canopy lighting, toolbox lighting, Starlink, UHF communications, spotlights, solar power, an air compressor, towing accessories and dash cameras. We only recommend the equipment that suits your work and vehicle.

How much does a trade vehicle fitout cost?

The cost depends on the vehicle, battery capacity, inverter size, accessories and installation work required. A dual battery and inverter setup will cost less than a complete remote-work fitout with Starlink, solar, communications, lighting and storage. We will provide a clear quote once we understand your requirements.

Can a dual battery system charge my tool batteries?

Yes, a correctly designed dual battery and inverter system can charge compatible cordless tool batteries. We need to know the wattage and number of chargers you expect to use so we can recommend a suitable inverter, battery capacity and charging system.

Will the fitout flatten my starter battery?

A properly installed dual battery system separates your work accessories from the starter battery. Your chargers, fridge, pie warmer and other equipment draw power from the auxiliary battery, helping preserve the starter battery for starting the vehicle.

Yes. We install Starlink systems for vehicles used on remote properties, civil projects, mine sites and regional jobs. We can plan the hardware mounting, power supply and cable routing around the vehicle. You will still need a suitable Starlink service plan and a clear view of the sky when using the system.

Can you fit out a vehicle with an existing canopy or toolbox?

Yes, in many cases we can install electrical equipment, lighting, drawers and accessories into an existing canopy or toolbox. We will inspect the available space, construction and current wiring before recommending the layout.

Can you fit out one vehicle or an entire fleet?

We can help with a single trade vehicle or a larger commercial fleet. For multiple vehicles, we can develop a consistent fitout specification while allowing for differences between vehicle models and working roles.

How long does a trade vehicle fitout take?

The timeframe depends on the size and complexity of the build, accessory availability and whether the vehicle already has a canopy or existing electrical system. We will provide an expected timeframe with your quote.

Is there a warranty on the fitout?

Warranty coverage depends on the products and installation work included in your fitout. We will explain the applicable product and workmanship warranty terms when preparing your quote.
